Pixel-Perfect on Paper or Onscreen
Reports can be designed and viewed in HTML, simply through an Internet
browser. With no additional effort these same reports are immediately
available for production quality printing. Report designers or editors
have pixel-by-pixel control of the report display, both onscreen
and on paper. MicroStrategy reports are also easily integrated into
Microsoft Excel without losing any previous formatting.

Familiar Website Conventions
and Navigation
With MicroStrategy Web all reports are organized in a hierarchical
folder structure, and the navigation bar always clearly indicates the user's location within the folder structure. End-users may also choose to
quickly locate the desired report using a familiar "Search"
box. A single click of the mouse accomplishes common tasks like running
a report or drilling to additional detail. Additionally, MicroStrategy Web users
can easily organize their favorite reports in a personalized "My Reports" area, similar
to setting Internet browser Favorites or Bookmarks.

Single Interface for Reporting
on All Data Sources
MicroStrategy Web provides a single point of access for all enterprise
data sources. Regardless of the information a user
needs, they can go to the same intuitive interface to retrieve it.
MicroStrategy Web reports can contain data from virtually any source:
a relational data warehouse, a transactional database, an operational
datamart, a multidimensional Intelligent Cube, SAP BW or flat files
such as Excel. Data from one or all of these sources can be combined
in a single report in a way that is completely transparent to the
end-users. The result -- all end users see a unified view of your
business. |

Platform Independence
MicroStrategy Web's design enables it to run on a wide range of application
servers, web servers and operating systems. With a platform independent
Java architecture at its core, MicroStrategy provides organizations
a choice of a thin layer of Java Server Pages (JSP's) or Active Server
Pages (ASP's). End users receive the exact same functionality and
experience regardless of an organization's choice of application server,
hardware or ASP/JSP front-end. MicroStrategy Web supports leading
application and web servers including IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic,
SunONE, Oracle AS, Microsoft Internet Information Server, and Tomcat.
Because of the single code base, MicroStrategy can provide its customers
with the same functionality, administration, bug fixes, customizations,
portal integration, and Web Services across all operating systems
simultaneously.

Workgroup Collaboration
MicroStrategy Web makes it easy to share information. Users can email
reports to other users, schedule re-ports for regular and event-based delivery,
publish reports to workgroups and export reports to Microsoft® Excel,
PDF and HTML formats.

Open XML Architecture
MicroStrategy Web is built on an XML-based architecture. XML is the standard
for data interchange. Business-es can easily integrate XML generated by
MicroStrategy Web into their own applications or portal frameworks, or
format it to suit their own unique needs. |

Comprehensive Security from
Encryption to Cell-Level Security
Data is secured at the cell level using security filters and access
control lists. MicroStrategy Web leverages SSL (Secure Sockets Layer)
to encrypt all web traffic. Security experts recommend that web servers
should not have any database connectivity. Unlike our competitors,
MicroStrategy Web does not have direct database connectivity. As a
result, databases are always secured against any hacker attacks unlike
our competitors' products. |

High Scalability and Reliability
Multiple machines running MicroStrategy Web can be clustered together
to provide high scalability and reliabil-ity. More hardware can be added
to meet increasing needs without losing the initial investment. Job-level
failover automatically transfers jobs from failed machines to other machines
in the cluster.
