Enterprise Manager Data Loader
Component
The data loader automatically collects usage statistics on BI applications
into a single location. The data load process collects information
from the MicroStrategy Intelligence Server logs and loads it in
an incremental manner to a predefined relational schema. With features
such as automated error handling and user defined schedules for
loading, administrators can automatically load information about
BI application usage into an open relational format for analysis.
Enterprise
Manager Reporting Component
MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager is bundled with a set of over 50
predefined reports that provide both summary and detailed reporting
on various areas of the BI Infrastructure, such as Object Dependency
Analysis, Object Property Analysis, Report Processing Analysis,
Cache Management Reporting, User Session Analysis and User/Group
Analysis.

Drag and Drop Interface with Automatic
Dependency Checking
MicroStrategy Object Manager provides a simple drag and drop interface
which allows developers to simply choose the various objects that
they would like to move from system to system (Development to Test
to Production). Once these objects have been selected for movement,
an automatic dependency check is run in the background to automatically
move over all related dependent objects. Thus, when a report is
moved, this also moves the underlying metrics, attributes and other
objects. This ensures that the new report in the destination project
will always work.
Comprehensive Search and
Conflict Resolution Options
Large BI projects often involve many hundreds of reports and objects
that may need to be moved and managed. Object Manager provides comprehensive
search features to help administrators determine which objects need
to me migrated, as well as conflict resolution options in case objects
that are being moved already exist in the destination project.
Project Merge Wizard Automates
Movement of Objects
Many BI applications have periodic updates where changes made in
development and which have been tested need to be moved into production
in bulk. MicroStrategy Administrator contains the Project Merge
Wizard, which allows administrators to set rules for moving objects
through an XML file. The actual movement of the objects can be scheduled
during off peak hours to minimize application downtime.

Automate Common Administrative Tasks with a Script-based Interface
MicroStrategy Command Manager allows for batching of many operations
in a command line mode to manage a variety of time-based, event-based
and housekeeping tasks. The script files created by Command Manager
can be scheduled through commonly available operating system utilities.
Sample listing of tasks performed through Command Manager:
- Access Control: Change, read, write and
other access properties for reports and folders for users and
groups
- Cache Management: Clear, expire, invalidate
and purge object and report caches based on a specified time or
event schedule on a report or project level
- Cluster Management: Add or remove Intelligence
Server machines to a cluster automatically
- Database Connection Management: Lists
all active database connections and create, alter or disconnect
specific database connections based on specified conditions
- Event Management: Create a new event
driven schedule and trigger a specific event schedule based on
certain criteria automatically
- Filter Management: Create, modify or
delete filters though a script
- Job Management: Monitor and kill specific
jobs created on the Intelligence Server
- Metric Management: Create, modify or
delete metrics though a script
- Project Configuration: Change database
instance associated with projects and other configuration parameters
- Project Management: Load, unload, idle
or register a project on a schedule
- Server Management: Stop or start servers
based on a schedule
- User Management: Create users, groups
and manage privelages and project access associated with these
users and groups; also set various authentication and authorization
parameters
- Narrowcast Service Management: Trigger
specific Narrowcast Servers to execute from a command line interface
- Narrowcast System Management: Stop and
start specific Narrowcast Servers from a script-driven interface
