1. What is Command Manager?
Command Manager is an application that lets you create and execute MicroStrategy configuration commands in a text-based form and save these in script files.

2. What does Command Manager allow administrators to do?
Command Manager contains commands that support the bulk creation and maintenance of users and their security access. It also allows you to tune parameters in MicroStrategy Intelligence Server to improve the configuration of the server.

3. What are the benefits of using Command Manager?
Command Manager is best suited for bulk operations such as creating users, and commonly used system configuration operations such as invalidating report caches. Command Manager provides an easy, fast way to create and maintain objects in the MicroStrategy platform.

4. How long does it take to learn Command Manager?
Command Manager preserves the look and feel of popular desktop applications. Command syntax and examples are available in the interface and can be inserted into the scripts. The commands are checked dynamically and color-coded to quickly show commands with the correct syntax.

5. Can the commands be executed from the command line?
The commands read in script files or entered dynamically, can be executed either from the graphical interface or from the command line. This ability allows commands to be run from inside other third-party applications.

6. What features does the Command Manager graphical interface contain to improve efficiency?
The Command Manager contains numerous features that let administrators manage business intelligence systems efficiently. These include:

  • Multiple simultaneous server connections
  • Multiple scripts per connection
  • Asynchronous script execution
  • Run Complete Script or Highlighted Section
  • Execution history list
  • Lock Project for Object Integrity

7. What commands does Command Manager support?
Command Manager focuses on user and security administration, and on Intelligence Server configuration. Examples of actions that can be performed on users, groups and security objects are create, delete, alter, list, grant, revoke, add, and remove. Intelligence Server parameters, such as number of connection threads and memory usage, and cache and job management, can be maintained using Command Manager commands.
