End User Training

Even the best solution will fail if the end user community does not accept it or understand how to use it. End user adoption is critical to application success. Do you have the right training strategy in place to ensure your end users get the training they need -- when they need it -- to be successful?

MicroStrategy Education is here to help! Whether it is a half-day or one-day instructor-led course, or a self-paced online course, we can work with you to develop a curriculum tailored to your application, business needs, and learning behavior of your end users. Regardless of the location of your users or the number of users you need to train, we can meet your needs with the various options we offer for end user training. We offer two instructor-led approaches to end user training:

Regardless of the approach, the key to effective user training is course customization. We have found that end users benefit greatly using documentation that contains a significant amount of business content. In the absence of familiar business examples, end users are often inadequately prepared to use the application and at times do not understand the reports provided.

Customized courseware offers the following benefits:

  • Combines data training (the "what") with functional training (the "how")

MicroStrategy enables you to deliver application-specific training to your user community by utilizing our existing end user courses as the foundation for your custom course. The course templates are modularized allowing for easy modification to the content with reports and data relevant to your end users. The courseware can be modified to include screenshots, business examples, exercises, and text that reflect your business and reporting needs. Leveraging MicroStrategy’s documentation will allow for quicker deployment of a professional and effective end user strategy and will ensure consistency in the training provided to all end users.

Add-on Offerings to Full Service and Self Service Models

The following offerings can be created in addition to a customized web end user course. Some of these offerings enhance the learning experience of your end users by providing additional documentation for reinforcement training. Other options serve as an alternate to live instruction, enabling you to train remote end users and address the training needs of new users as your user base grows.

Recorded Training Session. MicroStrategy records a live instructor-led course that can be played back to users repeatedly. The output is HTML with Flash files, which can be played via a web browser with Flash plugin. The deliverable includes the recorded session and the course manual that accompanies that session in electronic form. 12 LUs 1 day
Distance Learning Session. MicroStrategy uses Microsoft® Live Meeting technology to deliver the customized web user course to end users remotely over the Web. Up to 24 users can be trained at once and each participant will receive a hard-copy course manual, and will also have time for hands-on exercises. Live Meeting's interactive forum enables us to collaborate with your end users during the training experience. 6 LUs 1 day
Quick Reference Guide. Abbreviated version of the course manual that highlights the key points of the course. Duration of the QRG is determined by customer (example: may be a 2-page handout to a 10-page booklet). Can be created as an additional deliverable to the custom courseware files. 10 LUs 2.5 days
Teaching Notes (Instructor Guide): Reference guide for the certified trainers to assist them with teaching using the custom courseware. Can include tips/tricks, demo scripts and other relevant information to assist with preparation for course instruction. 10 LUs 2.5 days
Presentation Slides: Powerpoint slides that compliment the instructor-led course and serve as reference material/supplemental content to instructor while teaching. 6 LUs 1.5 days
Color Manuals: Providing color copies of the custom manual created by the MicroStrategy Education Consultant. By default, the manuals are in black and white, however color copies can be requested for an additional fee. LUs listed are based on producing 15 copies of a color manual. 3 LUs n/a
